Neck pain: your head is heavier than you think
Your head weighs about as much as a bowling ball. Your neck carries it all day, and it does fine as long as that ball sits balanced over your shoulders. The trouble is that almost nothing about modern life keeps it there. The laptop, the phone, the drive, the falling asleep on the couch at a weird angle. Inch by inch the head drifts forward, the muscles in back work overtime to hold it, and one day turning to check your blind spot is a whole event.
How we approach it at Radius
X-rays matter more for the neck than almost anywhere else, because I want to see what's happened to your curve. A healthy neck has a gentle forward arc that acts like a spring. Years of looking down flatten it, and a flattened curve makes the muscles do the work the bones should be doing.
Care is gentle, specific adjusting with the Torque Release Technique. No twisting, no forcing a stiff neck somewhere it doesn't want to go. If the pain is running down your arm or you're getting tingling in your fingers, that's a nerve being irritated, and we'll often add high energy inductive therapy (PEMF) over the area to help it calm down.
When to get checked
Stiffness that keeps coming back is your neck asking for attention. Pain running down an arm, tingling in your hands, or weakness in your grip is it demanding attention, and sooner matters. And if you've been in a car accident, even a fender bender that felt like nothing, get checked within a couple weeks. Whiplash is famous for showing up late.

Could this be from how I sleep?
Sleep position can aggravate a neck, but it's rarely the whole story. A healthy neck should handle a bad night on the couch and shake it off by lunch. If yours can't, something underneath was already irritated, and that's the part worth finding.
My hands tingle sometimes. Is that connected?
It can be. The nerves that run into your hands leave the spine at your neck, so irritation up top often shows up as tingling or numbness down the line. Bring it up at your first visit, because it changes what I look for on your X-rays.
Can you restore the curve in my neck?
I can tell you honestly after I see your X-rays. What care reliably does is get the joints moving and the muscles out of permanent overtime, which is what most people feel as relief. How much the curve itself changes varies person to person.
